I didn't want to pollute the lovely spells thread with all the neatly laid out spells.. so.

Summon Shadow has the Tromador stamp of approval.

Right. I see. That's fine.

Although if you change Armour of Darkness to 3 rounds +1/level and give say that the user trails with an aura of darkness (as per the spell), would that not be okay?

I mean, with Orison on around AC 26 now, it's not really a drama surely.

I just thought I might mention something that you may not have considered. Shadows are considerably more powerful than their CR would indicate. They are incorporeal, target touch AC, and turn the foe's str stat into it's effective HP. Also it's not completely gone from 3rd ed, shadow is one of the options on the summon undead V list in libris mortis. I had a necromancer in a game once who's favorite tactic was to summon a shadow, reduce the enemies str to 1 with greater bestow curse, and then have the shadow attack.

Hmm.. ok. We used Libris for Limnoch's summon lists previously, so there's precedent.

Thoughts Mike?

Obviously I have no clue about the book being mentioned, I made the spell up using common sense and thought it balanced/fit nice enough. If you would rather I downloaded this book and use whatevers in there then sure, but if you ask me if it aint a shadow it aint a darkness spell. And alternatively summoning that kind of whatever overt undead there are on there is likely to create some RP issues? Well, Im up for it... I guess.... 'Dont worry, that's the spirit of my grandfather come to assist us in our hour of need...' Smile

Seriously, dont mind DM's call just let me know what I can or cant do or what I need to download. I lose nothing power wise (not that thats the point) sticking with Armour of D. Iain's suggestion is interesting for a variant though, its something I might research as a spin off? We'll see when there's some downtime.

Libris Mortis is in our usual collection of D&D books, in the usual place. Summon Undead V (or whatever number) we worked according to usual summoning, so Limmy had to take (for example) Summon Skeleton and Summon Zombie as separate spells, rather than Summon Undead 1.

Summon Shadow as a darkness domain spell, thus gaining it effectively 1 level lower than usual sort of works for me though and seems like a reasonable way to work it.

hey all,

i am interested in this little group and wish to join you on your quest.

i am bored with all this video game crap and want the real RPG experience. i have a little (i mean little) experience with D&D but am a good writer and have an awesome imagination. i live in PA,USA and would be GMT -5. i would consider myself a spellcaster, if that helps or hurts my app. i can learn any rules you want. mold me.shape me as you see fit. thanks for the chance. later.
